Colour is one part of the specification
Choose the coating
as well as the colour.
A similar shade can belong to a different paint system. Keep the selected series, coating, gauge and material record together when planning the order.
PVDF
Polyvinylidene fluoride finishes in the Core, Signature and Printed PVDF series. Select the specific material and coating build for the project's requirements.
SMP
Silicone-modified polyester finishes in the Classic, Printed SMP and Textured series. SMP is a distinct coating system, not a different name for PVDF.
Polyester
Appliance White in the Classic Series uses polyester. The collection identifies this separately from SMP and PVDF.
Zinc is a different material.
Our Zinc Series includes naturally pre-weathered and resin-coated zinc surfaces. Each has its own material specification. Zinc thickness and forming requirements are reviewed separately from steel gauges, and steel paint warranties do not automatically apply.

Material selection
Specify the whole material.
Choose from stock and project-order materials. Match the substrate, decimal thickness, finish system and profile to your project's requirements before confirming the order.
What makes up prepainted steel?
Paint, metallic protection and base metal are separate parts of the specification. Their exact build varies with the material selected.
Surface finish
Select the colour, appearance and coating system. PVDF, SMP and marked polyester options have different coating builds.
Metallic protection
Prepainted steel may use a galvanized or aluminum-zinc coated substrate. The coating designation belongs to the selected material.
Base metal
Specify the decimal steel thickness and grade needed for the profile and project. Gauge alone is not a universal thickness specification.
Reverse-side finish
The backer coating and suitability for the intended exposure are confirmed with the material specification.
Actual zinc is a different base material, not one of these painted-steel layers.

Zinc and other non-steel materials are specified by their own metal thickness and material standard, not by assuming a painted-steel gauge equivalent. Ask about the thickness required for your project.
